TOP businessman and socialite Mabheleni Ntuli failed to appear in the Ntuzuma magistrate's court yesterday for failing to pay maintenance for his child.

Ntuli, who lives at La Lucia Ridge, north of Durban, is known for throwing lavish parties and hosting the best marquee for the annual Durban July horse race.

Last year, he pledged R500000 to the Jacob Zuma Reconstruction and Development Programme Education Trust fund-raising event at the Greyville Race Course.

The flashy businessman, who is also media- shy, failed to pay maintenance for his daughter who is studying business management at the Durban University of Technology.

His daughter, who asked not to be named, was in court yesterday accompanied by a male companion.

She waited for her father, but left disappointed when she realised that he was not coming to court.

Maintenance officer Thola Khambule said Ntuli had failed to appear in court four times in a row.
